Youth Enterprise
This first APYouthNet discussion forum took place on 27 April – 11 May 2009. It looked at the impact of the economic crisis on the wage and self-employment activities of young people; and ways in which government and development agencies could promote and support youth entrepreneurship during the challenging time.
Education and skills training to improve employability of young people
This second APYouthNet discussion forum took place on 13-27 July 2009. It discussed effective strategies for addressing the challenges in education and training to ensure that young people have the skills required to place themselves in opportunities for safe, health and secure work.
The rights and conditions of young workers
This third APYouthNet discussion forum took place on 23 November - 6 December 2009. It provided the opportunity to explore the experiences of young people in the labour force, impact of the crisis, ways to promote decent work opportunities for youth labour market flexibility, and youth organizations and labour rights.
Vulnerable Youth
This fourth APYouthNet discussion forum took place on 16 March - 4 April 2010. At the request of community members for improved opportunities to share knowledge, this forum dealt with three topics under the overarching theme of vulnerable youth, each in its own discussion stream: engaging young migrants, youth in emergencies, and young people with disabilities.
Active labour market policies for young people
This fifth APYouthNet discussion forum took place on 19-31 July 2010. It examined the different programmes and projects promoting active labour market policies for young people, and discussed migration of young people for employment, the gender dimension, active labour market policies introduced in response to the global crisis, and impact evaluation.
