 the Tanoa International Hotel\, Nadi\, Fiji. \n\nThe opening Ceremony 
 is scheduled for Wednesday 14th April 8.30am at the Convention Center\
 , Tanoa International Hotel and will be opened by Mr Trevor Riodon the
  Director a.i ILO Office for the Pacific Island Countries. The closing
  is scheduled for  4.00pm Friday 16th April 2010. \nThe objective of t
 he Workshop is to\: \n•	Review the progress and outcomes of the proj
 ect implementation in 5 Pacific island countries\;\n•	Present the si
 tuation of the youth employment in each country and the Pacific\;\n•
 	Share the challenges and constraints in implementing youth employment
  project as well as good  practices and lessons learned on youth emplo
 yment promotion\; and\n•	Identify ways and means for the sustainabil
 ity of the YEP initiatives and secure commitment from stakeholders.\nT
 he expected outputs and outcomes include\: \n•	A common and updated 
 understanding of the achievements and challenges of implementing the I
 LO Youth Employment Project\n•	Greater awareness of the youth employ
 ment challenges in the Pacific and how to address them \n•	Enhanced 
 knowledge of the challenges and constraints as well as best practices 
 and lessons learned in implementing youth employment project and in th
 e overall promotion of youth employment in the Pacific\n•	Consensus 
 reached on practical ways to sustain some  of project’s initiatives 
 and achievements.\n\nParticipants\n\nParticipants will be invited from
  all 5 Pacific island countries covered in the implementation of the I
 LO Youth Employment Project (YEP). Each country will have about 5-6 pa
 rticipants. The meeting is designed specifically for senior officials 
 of the Government (especially the Ministry of Labour\, and the Ministr
 y of Youth)\, employers’ organizations\, workers organizations (incl
 uding Youth Wing of the Trade Union)\, and other organizations involve
 d in the implementation of the project.  \n\nProject Background \n\nTh
 e ILO Youth Employment Programme commenced in April 2008. \n\nRecogniz
 ing the urgent need to respond to the huge challenge of youth unemploy
 ment and underemployment in the Pacific\, the ILO Youth Employment Pro
 gramme (YEP) entitled Sub-regional Programme on Education\, Employabil
 ity and Decent Work for Youth in the Pacific Island Countries is aimed
  at contributing to improved employability and decent work for young w
 omen and men in Kiribati\, Papua New Guinea\, Samoa\, Solomon Islands 
 and Vanuatu.\n\nTo achieve this goal\, the Youth Employment Programme 
 has the following three immediate objectives\:\n\n(1) 	to enhance the 
 knowledge of how to better address the challenges faced by young women
  and men in securing decent wage and self-employment and efficiently d
 isseminate the knowledge within each country and in the sub-region\;\n
 \n(2)	 to strengthen the capacity of governments\, employers’ and wo
 rkers’ organizations as well as youth organizations to develop natio
 nal and local policies and programmes to achieve decent work for youth
 \; and \n\n(3) 	to facilitate greater access by  young men and women t
 o support services for wage and self-employment through new tools and
