International Year of Youth: Dialogue and Mutual Understanding
The General Assembly
has recently passed a resolution proclaiming the year commencing on 12
August 2010 the International Year of Youth: Dialogue and Mutual
Understanding. The Year will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the
1985 International Youth Year: Participation, Development and Peace.
The
resolution invites Member States, the UN system and youth organizations
to take advantage of the International Year to promote actions at all
levels aimed at disseminating among youth the ideals of peace, freedom,
progress, solidarity and dedication to the objectives and goals of
progress and development, including the Millennium Development Goals.
