Together with the United Nations System, Mexico invites every nation to celebrate the World Youth Conference 2010, as an opportunity for discussion and reflection regarding the role youth plays in achieving development, with special emphasis on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
Five years away from the deadline set by the international community to achieve the development goals agreed to in the year 2000, a youth-oriented focus on these goals is required and indispensable in order for the efforts to be both lasting and progressive in the long term.
The WYC 2010 will have three spaces for participation, all of them linked with each other. Each one will correspond to the three social agents which are strategic in making it possible for young people to be very involved in their own development. It is about the young people themselves, the non-government organizations, the governments and the parliamentarians; the Social Forum, Governments Forum and the Legislators Forum were created with this in mind.
