The Youth Employment Network (YEN)
YEN works to engage, educate and motivate actors to provide improved employment opportunities for youth. It is a platform and service provider focusing on policy advice, innovative pilot projects, knowledge sharing, and brokering partnerships. YEN makes use of its core agency partners’ know how and resources and ensures youth participation in delivering its services.

4. Main partners and areas of partnership
The Youth Employment Network (YEN) is a partnership of United Nations, International Labour Organization, and World Bank. YEN was created in 2001 to mobilize action on the commitment of the Millennium Summit for decent and productive work for young people.
5. Existing or potential partnership with the ILO
YEN is managed by a permanent secretariat hosted by ILO in Geneva. The secretariat is primarily a provider of innovative and value-added services for the Network. A specific focus is given to West Africa, where the secretariat has a regional office in Dakar, Senegal.
6. Successful youth employment interventions

1. Introduction of the Lead Country concept: In 2002, three Lead Countries stepped forward, committing to prioritise youth employment at the national level. Today there are 21 Lead Countries.

2. Mobilisation of 7 Million USD from various donors to support activities of the Network.

3. Development and dissemination of various publications and advocacy products on youth employment.

4. Training of over 1500 youth representatives as advocates on youth employment.
