UN Radio, 30 July 2011 - Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world, with 237 million people according to the 2010 census. 18 percent of these people are ‘youth’ between the ages of 15 and 24 years old. Creating decent employment opportunities for young people in Indonesia is a top priority for officials there. The country’s President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, become the first Indonesian leader to attend the International Labour Organization’s Convention. Mehran Fahrooque spoke with the ILO’s director for Indonesia, Peter Van Rooij, about the significance of this.
