I am pleased to place on record that after the workshop in Bangkok the following initiatives were taken in Sri Lanka:

On an invitation from ILO/Japan youth employment project the learnings of the work shop and the experience of the community of practices were shared amongst the stake holders review meet conducted by ILO/Japan youth employment project after 12 month of the initial youth employment project training work shops, where more than 70 participants were percent form the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka.

The idea of community of practice was appreciated by all the participants and many new ideas were shared by the participants to address the youth employment issues in the province. Mr Sinha Dassanayaka and miss Niranjala Susaipille the other two participants from Sri Lanka who attended the Bangkok work shop were percent at the occasion to share their experience.

I got an opportunity to involve in a capacity of consultant to submit a sector analysis report of the plantation sector in Sabaragamuwa province to facilitate the vocational Training development plan initiated by the ILO and prepared by the treasury vocation education center.

I got yet another opportunity to facilitate a government sponsored project implemented by the chambers of  Sabaragamuwa to provide a diploma in office administration for the youth in Rathnapura district by selecting some youth from the plantation sector. At present the chambers are in the process of commencing the second program.

The members of the national project advisory committee of the ILO/Japan youth employment program were enlighten by me on community of practice. The ministry secretaries, the director ILO, and staff representatives from trade unions and, employer's,  were amongst the participants. The participants were of the view that it is a naval experience and the community of practices would help in implementing the ILO youth employment project as well as the other activities as such they should have a dialog on community of practices.

I am presently working with the youth corps, an organization under the ministry of youth in Sri Lanka to establish youth clubs in some of the plantations in the district of Ratnapura were the ILO youth employment project is implemented.

Facilitated the enrolment of plantation youth for vocational training and for on the job training in collaboration with National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority which is a government organization assisting the youth to improve their skill to meet the labor market demand.

I am very much pleased that I got an opportunity to participate the Bangkok work shop and shared the knowledge with many others in Sri Lanka and the opportunity to get involved in the above activities and believe that a well established community of practice could serve the communities who needs assistance with least expenditure, through the concept of net working, as it is possible to harness the knowledge and experience of the members to bring in synergy to address many issues.
