Australian Chamber of Commerce, 2010 - Reducing youth unemployment and under-employment is a matter of national importance and a common objective of business, unions, community organisations and governments. It is a goal which, if achieved, serves our economy and our objectives for social inclusion. It value-adds to the public and private investment that the community makes in primary and secondary education. In the wake of the global financial crisis (GFC), despite the relative strength of the economy, this Issues Paper highlights the disproportionately high levels of unemployment which exists among younger Australians, particularly in regional Australia.
